Body odor
During WWI, it was hard to find time for bathing or personal hygiene.
The soldiers had no time to care for themselves, and soon body odor stunk up the trenches like gas. That was the constant smell that they smelled, day in and day out. Eventually this probably numbed their noses, and they couldn't smell anything that wasn't a strong smell. |
Other then body odor, they also had to smell the decaying bodies, mortar shells, and many other disgusting smells that more then likely caused them severe headaches. These smells made their war experience that much worse.
